So the half moons became my means of transcribing, of condensing some of the chaos of the Bangkok experience into a manageable pictorial narrative. Adopting symbols to compress and distill the telling of the tale, and simplifying the human form into basic shapes enabled me to render an idea very quickly. The figures and setting took on a kind of other worldly appearance, and by being rendered in something other than their usual form, could be portrayed with a greater sense of theater and poignancy.
