Vermeer's, History of Painting

There is an intimacy to drawing at this scale that I find absolutely seductive. But I confess there were passages within this piece that I felt I couldn't quite reach, where I experienced the limitations of scale. So I became uncertain as to my ability to do justice to Vermeer and this stunning work. The resolution often lies in the acknowledgement and acceptance of certain limitatioins of a medium. In this case, the union of subject and shape came together to form a beautiful whole.
