This
is one of the first drawings where I used the entire surface of the egg. I
began drawing, intent to follow the composition faithfully as it appears on
the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel. Flanking Adam on each side are two ignudo,
on the opposite side, is the image of God, extending his hand, seperating
darkness from light, not, as you might expect, the image of God reaching to
impart life to Adam.
To draw on the edgeless plain of eggshell is to dwell on a private sphere
of the unexpected. Always it takes me to places unforeseen.
