I
really liked the transparency of oil bar on the fine texture of mylar. Mylar
reminds me of the surface of eggshells - a sensitve receiver. Working in an
art retail, I'd accumulated rolls of the stuff, 'used to be the material of
choice for architects and engineers. The oil'd glide on so nicely, could be
moved, manipulated with ease, it
was imediate, no prep, cut it to size and you're ready.
Figures such as these evolved
into what would become the half moon series. The theme of the artist at work
is one with which I'm well acquainted.
